One of the highlights of the event was the presence of Project Hope, a local food and clothing pantry that benefited from a food drive held in conjunction with the ceremony. The ceremony kicked off with Jason Johnson, Omaha Market Manager, welcoming attendees and expressing gratitude to Ubiquity, FiberFirst’s network build partner. Following Jason, City Council representative Juanita Johnson from District 2 emphasized the critical need for robust fiber internet infrastructure in North Omaha. She highlighted that as technology evolves, so too must the bandwidth available to students, businesses, and residents—something FiberFirst provides through its extensive fiber internet services and network.
Fidele Mienso from the Midlands African American (MAC) Chamber also spoke about FiberFirst’s positive impact on local businesses and the community. Rebecca Phipps from the Greater Omaha Chamber energized the crowd, leading the countdown for the ribbon cutting. With excitement, Jason Johnson cut the ribbon, officially opening FiberFirst’s new office.
